CenterPoint Energy, Inc. (CenterPoint) is a public utility holding company, owning and operating electric transmission and distribution and natural gas distribution facilities through subsidiaries. It also supplies natural gas to commercial and industrial customers and electric and natural gas utilities. CenterPoint operates primarily through three business segments: Electric Transmission & Distribution, Natural Gas Distribution, and Energy Services.

Electric Transmission & Distribution segment operates through the company’s subsidiary CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric, LLC (Houston Electric).  Houston Electric is engaged in the transmission and distribution electric utility that operates wholly within the state of Texas and is a member of Electric Reliability Council of Texas  (ERCOT), serves as the independent system operator and regional reliability coordinator for member electric power systems in most of Texas. It delivers electricity from power plants to substations, from one substation to another and to retail electric customers taking power at or above 69 Kilovolt (kV) in locations throughout Houston Electric’s certificated service territory. It also constructs and maintains transmission facilities and provides transmission services under tariffs approved by the potentially responsible parties (PUCT).

Natural Gas Distribution segment operates through the company’s subsidiary CERC Corp. It is engaged in regulated intrastate natural gas sales to, and natural gas transportation and storage for, approximately 3.5 million residential, commercial, industrial and transportation customers in Arkansas, Louisiana, Minnesota, Mississippi, Oklahoma and Texas.

Energy Services segment provides competitive variable and fixed-priced physical natural gas supplies primarily to commercial and industrial customers and electric and natural gas utilities through CenterPoint Energy Services, Inc. (CES) and its subsidiary, CenterPoint Energy Intrastate Pipelines, LLC (CEIP).

For the fiscal year ended December 2017, company’s revenue increased $2.1 billion or 27.7% to $9.6 billion, as compared to the revenues in fiscal 2016.
